It operates similarly to xmpp where there is no “central server” but messages are router between micro blogging service providers.

Today I:
Upgraded the kernel on the vmware HOST machine (hoot.mgmt.loudas.com)
Upgraded the kernel on the upstream router (bumblebee.velocitynetworks.co.nz)
Upgraded vmware to the latest version (I’ve been putting this off)
took a while (vmware is a pig to upgrade) .. but all is well now

So I bought jabber.co.nz this week 
This is a fun game I’m playing.
I had to restart ejabberd a few times today to get the appropriate ssl certifacte loaded for the new domain.
All done .. rock and roll !!!

I had some memory issues with only 5 online users ….
I discovered I was “mixing and matching” storage options on the jabber service.
I went through and cleaned up my config and haven’t had a complaint so far .. with my current config I should be able to support 000′s of concurrent users.
